Doctor Jyothis Abraham-Cohen is a New Jersey and New York Board Certified Therapeutic Optometrist. She graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry as well as a Masters degree in vision sciences. Upon graduation, Dr. Abraham-Cohen completed a year-long residency in ocular disease with an emphasis on glaucoma management at SUNY College of Optometry.
During her training, Dr. Cohen worked at the Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital in Newburgh, New York and at the Omni Eye Services in Rochelle Park and Iselin, New Jersey. During her training as an optometrist, Dr. Cohen was the recipient of merit scholarships. For her Masters thesis, Dr. Cohen studied myopia and published her results in the journal, Optometric Vision Science. She also presented a research poster in glaucoma at the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Abraham-Cohen learned to provide special services for people with low vision by attending courses at the LightHouse for the Blind in New York. She also worked for the New York City Board of Education providing vision screenings to elementary school children.
Dr. Abraham-Cohen has been practicing as a primary care optometrist for the past 11 years. In addition to diagnosing and managing ocular disease and fitting people with eyeglasses, she is proficient at fitting soft contact lenses, including multifocal lenses, as well as rigid gas permeable lenses. She thoroughly enjoys providing comprehensive eye care to adults and children.
